"Counting the Sunny Days"
By:  Xavier

FIVE, ten, fifteen, twenty...So many pages of
memories in our Book of Life.
Times of peace and happiness...and yes,
some times of pain and strife.
WE'D all love to only have the good times,
all nicely bound together.
Just as we'd love for each day of life to be sunny,
with no bad weather.
WE can't rewrite the past, so we must accept that not
one memory can be undone.
And realize, that our life story will be less painfull...
sharing it with God's Son.
JESUS, is one who knows pain and suffering...
Beyond any man's imagination.
He did no wrong...though, accepted the punishment for
all of creation.
As our Savior, Jesus, accepted punishment...and
ask for our burdens and cares.
Accepting Him fully and giving Him our lives...we'll have
a life we can bear.
SO, as we count the many memories...we'll find
peace and salvation in only one way.
Through Jesus...we'll have a life that we can spend...
counting the sunny days.
"Forgotten Man,
I Remember!!!"
By:  Xavier

IT"S THE Third hour of the eleventh day, of the first
month...two-thousand and three.
A time in my life when I'm accepting what Is...
becoming one with reality.
FOR SO Long, I believed that my good was better than
the bad...so it did appear.
But, though I've had blessings which I cherish...I
continue to lose, year after year.
THESE AREN'T Material losses, because those are things
that can easily be replaced.
No...I'm losing people who I've grown to love so
deeply, it can never be erased.
THESE ARE People who've helped me stay strong, and
inspired me to cope with my misery.
But, now I no longer have these relationships...
each one is a cherished memory.
THE WARMTH Of each memory is so great, I'll not
be chilled on the coldest night in December.
I'll forever be here if they ever need me...though
I'm a forgotten man, I remember!!!

MY ALL
Death Row Inmate

Can I have a place in your heart?
If so, then I'll give you my all; the fragments, debris and
dust.  Some people say I have a calloused, caliginous and malignant
heart.  I know this to be untrue.  A calloused, caliginous, malignant
heart cannot bleed, nor can it feel.
I give you my love; my unconditional, unyielding, genuine
love.  I give you my legs, so that you will always have
someone to stand beside you.  My arms, for when you need a
hug.  My hands, for when you need to be lifted up.  My mouth
and mind, so that you will know how much I value you.  My
ears, so that you will have someone that will listen to you.  My
eyes, so that you will see in yourself what I see in you.
I give you my lungs, for when you feel suffocated by
this world and for when your dreams, needs and desires seem
to be burning and unreachable.  I give you my tears to help put
out the flames, my back to carry you through the pain and the fires.
Finally, I give you my body as a whole to help you
rebuild and to keep you from being lonely.
WHILE I AM LIVING
Death Row Inmate

If you are ever going to love me,
love me now, while I can know
The sweet and tender feelings
From which true affection flow.
Love me now...
...while I am living.
Do not wait until I am gone
And then have it chiselled in marble,
Sweet words on ice cold stone.
If you have tender thoughts of me
Please tell me now
If you wait until I am sleeping,
never to awaken,
There will be death between us...
... And I won't hear you then.
So if you love me, even a little bit,
Let me know while I am living
So I can treasure it.

"INNOCENCE (LONG PAST)"

In the still, mirror-reflective water
I see the face of a child I once knew
Beautiful is this child
Face aglow with the joy of life's innocence
Curious of creation, loving all that exists
Beautiful is this child
My heart fills with sorrow and pain
As I stare into his soft, innocent blue eyes
As he gazes back in wonder at the hard, calloused eyes
To the man he has became.

"WEEPING WILLOW'
On the branch of a weeping willow
Nests a nightingale
He's alone without his lover
He cries to no avail

Listen to his sobs of sadness
They echo across the fields
There's a stillness in the meadow
Sensing what he feels

Ah, goodbye to his beautiful world
He lays down on his pillow
From the limbs it's raining tears
Oh, lonely bird in the weeping willow

"Shattered Pieces"
By:  Melvin Speight

Cynical peace
facade of virture
hidden vices
outwardly nurtured
theives of concise
shatter tranquillity
barren moral
calls to humility
tantalizing visions
manipulating holds
mounting calamities
deaden the soul
human emotion
a labyrinth of lies
abandonment of peace
for blood in the skies
a yearning thought
abstract in nature
innate serenity
begins with creator.

My Gift to You
by:  Cedric Jacobs
I live through my dark existance,
only to bask in the beauty of your eyes
that shine like sapphires, your smile that
brightens even my sad existance, I envy the
wind that runs through your hair, that touches
your lips, I long to touch you to hold you
in my arms but I can not, for your heart
is so far away, so I can only love you
from a far; your friendship means more to me
than anything this world provides but
like an angel you touched my heart in
a way that I've never felt before
Because I've really never know what
love is until I met you, I hope you
get this soon for tomarrow is not
promised, come to me my love
I'm here patiently waiting, I'm asleep
now I don't want to wake up
"unless it's you calling"
"Radiance"
By:  Melvin Speight

My eyes reflect the light of my soul

Think of daylight

as the essence of my glow.

"What I Am"

I move like darkness
infinitely through space

"Discovery"
By:  Melvin Speight

What would happen
if
they laid me down
to sleep
and then discovered
not me
but
another?

"In A Flash"
By: Melvin Speight

I've sought and I seek
I've been strong and I've been weak
I've been called strange
and beautifully unique
I've been at the peak
of joy
and I've been smashed
by broken promises
as a little boy
so in short
this has been my life
in a flash
would I live it again
some may ask
lets just say I'm thankful
we can't relive
the past.
"Torment"
By: Melvin Speight

Recognize the reality of pain
that a death row prisoner
must sustain
recognize the rules
and solitary confinement
which now leaves us with no choice
but defiance
recognize the separation
from love ones
while being denied
the basic human touch
recognizing things such as these
should drive the wise
to their knees
as for us who be
we have just one plea
oh please oh please
why me why me.
